5 Helpful Dishwashing Tips

5 Helpful Dishwashing Tips

JUNE 7, 2022 | ECO SPRING CLEAN

Believe it or not, some people actually enjoy battling with dirty dishes in the sink as it is ‘therapeutic’ and ‘meditative’. But if you’re not one of those people and you are having a hard time dealing with all the used utensils and plates, this blog is for you.

These 5 dishwashing tips will make your job easier and more bearable.

  1. Use a pair of gloves – Those bright-colored gloves don’t look cool for sure but they protect your hands from hot water and sharp kitchen tools. They make it easier to hold on to wet and slippery dishes, too!

  1. Wipe food off your dishes as early as possible – It’s much harder to wash off food that has been sitting on dishes for a long period of time. Long enough for moisture to evaporate from the food and create a solid bond with the surface it is sitting on.

  1. Get a good sponge and dish washing tools – Scotch-Brite sponges are heaven-sent. Cheap and non-scratching. You can also use a dish wand where you can put dish liquid directly inside the handle.

  1. Wash in the right order – Start with the glassware and any drinking vessels, plates and bowls should go next, then finally the deadly pots and pans. You get the sense of it. You don’t want to start with the greasiest ones.

  1. Don’t let dishes pile up – Your interest level in washing your dishes gets smaller and smaller when you see the pile grow bigger and dirtier. It’s best that you deal with the dishes every after meal if possible. If not, tackle the dishes every night to prevent them from piling up and eventually getting out of hand.
